With the hustle and bustle of day to day family life, it’s easy to neglect our homes. But, living in a clutter-free, bright and airy space is really important for our mental wellbeing. When our homes are untidy and run down, then it has a huge impact on our general state of mind. If this resonates with you, then there are plenty of ways to bring some freshness back into your home.

3 ways to give your home a fresher feel

As a working Mum of three young children, I understand the struggles of keeping on top of things. Life can be a constant juggle can’t it? As I work from home, I spend a vast amount of my time staring at the same four walls, which can really get me down if I’m not careful. I’m sure it’s the same for many others too! But spending a little time focusing on your home will have a positive impact on your whole family.

Many of us live in areas where our houses are packed closely together, meaning that natural light can be difficult to come by. If your existing windows are old and the frames have seen better days, then it’s worth looking into some replacement windows. Not only will you see an instant benefit with more natural light, but your home will have better insulation with new windows too. This will help to cut down on both heating and electricity costs. Win, win!

I know that replacing windows might seem out of your budget, but it’s worth saving up for the double glazing cost because it will have such a huge impact on the overall feel of your home.

A lick of paint

Giving the walls a fresh coat of paint really helps to brighten up the place.paint the walls Choose light, fresh colours so that the sunlight reflects off the surface, giving your home a brighter air. Avoid purples, reds and darker shades which will only make the rooms feel even darker.

A lick of paint is a great way to refresh your home. The smell of new paint, and the change in look gives you that new home feeling.

I don’t know about you, but having a conservatory would make such a huge difference to our lives, and it’s something we’ve been talking about for years!

Not only does a conservatory offer you valuable extra room, but it also helps to bring more natural light in too.

If you’re thinking about adding a conservatory to your home, then consider having one with a glass roof, as this can help to cut your heating costs and provide great insulation. A glass roof helps to moderate the temperature within the conservatory, keeping it cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter.

Spend some time thinking about how you could get that fresh feeling back in your home. If a declutter and a lick of paint is all you can stretch to, then that will make a huge difference to the feel of your home.
